Emily Wood is a senior lecturer, and third year co-leader, on BA Graphic Design at Kingston School of Art, Kingston University, London, UK.  She is also an associate lecturer on BA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is currently studying for MA in Academic Practice at University of the Arts, London. She is currently researching ways to prepare students for their uncertain futures; from unstable working environments, to creating their own work, to working alongside robots and beyond.

Through their graphic design practice, REG design (www.regdesign.co.uk), Emily and her partner Ruth Sykes, are interested in exploring how graphic design can help improve living and learning. Their portfolio includes projects for charities, arts organisations, schools and universities with clients such as V&A, Crafts Council, Koestler Trust and UAL.

Emily will be presenting an evaluation of a peer assessment procedure which she undertook in October 2016 with first year graphic design students, as part of the delivery of a newly revalidated course at Central Saint Martins. It was delivered as a part of the summative assessment of the student’s first five week unit; a group project designed to introduce the students to how to learn in higher education.
