On Thursday, 13 November, from 18:00 to 19:30, Cadena SER Euskadi will host a new session of its Aula Abierta series at Yimby Sota (Bilbao), titled “The Eliza effect: the risks of attributing human characteristics to artificial intelligence.” This public event invites reflection on our tendency to humanise technology beyond its actual capabilities.

The talk will feature Lorena Fernández, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Committee at the University of Deusto, who will address the ethical, social, and technical challenges of the so-called “Eliza Effect”—named after the first chatbot developed in the 1960s. Fernández will explain how this tendency to attribute human emotions or intentions to AI can distort our perception and create unrealistic expectations of the technology.
