Youth and Global Security: Spain Confronting Hybrid Threats and the Future of European Defence

Helsinki España, in collaboration with the University of Deusto, promotes this academic initiative aimed at engaging university students with the main challenges of contemporary international security. The project addresses key issues such as hybrid threats, disinformation, terrorism, and the defence of democratic values within the European context.

The event combines a keynote lecture, a roundtable discussion, and an interactive session, fostering direct dialogue between students and experts from academic, institutional, and multilateral environments. Through this approach, the initiative seeks to promote critical thinking and strengthen security awareness among youth, highlighting Spain’s role in European defence and the management of emerging risks.

The event is open to the entire University of Deusto community—including students, faculty, and researchers—as well as to the broader civil society of Bilbao, with the aim of fostering wider public engagement and awareness of global security challenges.
