Soir.ee Mademoiselle Basque Exhibition. Deusto Entrepreurship Week 2025
As part of Deusto Entrepreneurship Week and the wider Global Entrepreneurship Week, we invite you to discover Soir.ee Mademoiselle Basque. This activity is presented by Imedi Hassissen, an entrepreneur from DeustoKabi, our incubator at the Bilbao Campus. Imedi’s project began in Belgium in 2017 with the SEN Soirée exhibition. Following this first exhibition, Soir.ee launched a wonderful initiative combining inspiration, creativity, entrepreneurship, and female empowerment, which became Soir.ee Mademoiselle Basque. During Deusto Entrepreneurship Week, from 17 to 21 November, the artworks from Soir.ee Mademoiselle Basque that were displayed in the Bilbao Underground will be exhibited in the Auditorium Cloister. We encourage you to visit and discover the entrepreneurial initiatives, led by women, behind each piece of art.

Session with James J. Bonham, President and CEO of The ESOP Association
Session with James J. Bonham, President and CEO of The ESOP Association
Deusto Business Alumni, in collaboration with ASLE, is hosting a session with James J. Bonham, President and CEO of The ESOP Association, and President of the Employee Ownership Foundation, entitled: “Employee ownership and industrial roots: the ESOP model in the United States versus sale to investment funds.”
During the session, we will explore how the ESOP model has enabled thousands of American companies to keep ownership and employment local. The discussion will also compare this approach with traditional business succession, where the involvement of investment funds can weaken ties to the local community.
The aim is to inspire industrial companies, institutions, and universities to explore new forms of ownership and participation that strengthen the local productive fabric.
At the end of the session, attendees will be invited to a coffee/networking.
The discussion will be moderated by Beatriz González, General Director of Betsaide, President of ASLE, and President of Azterlan.
The session will be conducted entirely in English.
About James J. Bonham:
James J. Bonham is President and CEO of The ESOP Association and President of the Employee Ownership Foundation, the two leading US organisations dedicated to promoting employee ownership.
He has over 25 years of experience in business leadership, public policy, and institutional relations in Washington, D.C.
Prior to his current role, he was President of the government relations and public policy practice at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, and has been recognised as one of the 50 most influential advisers to the US Congress and Senate.
A graduate of Creighton University (Nebraska), Bonham is known for his vision of “shared capitalism” and his promotion of employee ownership models as a path to competitiveness, equity, and economic sustainability.
Under his leadership, The ESOP Association has become a key interlocutor in shaping tax and business policies that support employee shareholding and the continuity of family-owned businesses.

Lecture: “Beneficios del aceite de oliva para la salud” by Antonio Escribano
As part of the lecture series “Sumar vida a nuestros años”, the Pedro Fabro Association of Retired Members of the University of Deusto will hold the talk “Beneficios del aceite de oliva para la salud” by Antonio Escribano on 28 April at 11:30 in the Garate Room.
About the series
In today’s world, it is a fact that people are living longer. We are certainly adding years to life — a remarkable achievement largely due to medical advances, improvements in public health, personal care, and better social conditions.
What is less certain, however, is that those extra years are truly full of life. Existing happens by itself, but learning to live is a conscious and active choice. Learning to live means developing our potential to become fulfilled, happy, joyful, and compassionate people. Learning to live is not about having more, but about being more — and that is what fills our years with life.
The lecture series is open to the general public in Bilbao and nearby areas.
Registration is free.
