David Parry is an inspiring orchestra director, with an enormous and varied opera and symphonic repertoire. Renowned for his second-to-none conducting of Italian bel canto repertoire, he is a passionate defender of opera in English and has been responsible for the re-appraisal of countless lesser-known compositions in a series of multi-award-winning productions and recordings, featuring some of the world’s finest singers.

He is a maestro of unique versatility, influence and enthusiasm, and is passionate about unity of performance in opera. For him an extraordinary piece of advice, given to him as a young assistant, still resonates: We conductors must remember that every musician started out because he loved music so much; our job is to reawaken that love.
