The Tale of Machismo or the Machismo of Tales
Macarena Baena, a journalist specialising in feminism and gender-based violence, will explore the phenomenon of denial of gender violence, examining how it manifests in today’s society and its main consequences. Through clear and relatable examples, she will highlight how girls and boys are socialised from an early age into gender stereotypes and roles that generate inequalities and lay the foundations for structural violence.
The aim of the talk is to provide tools to identify these everyday dynamics, often invisible, and encourage a critical perspective that recognises how inequality begins almost from birth. This reflection is essential to understand the present and work towards a fairer and more equal society.
The session is suitable for all audiences and will cover aspects related to sexual violence, a brief overview of current legislation, as well as issues of prevention and detection of gender-based violence, and co-education.
