ForoTech 2018. Conferencia I+D: “Probabilistic proccesing of complex data”

ForoTech 2018. Conferencia I+D:
04/27/2018
10:30 – 11:30
Garate Room. Avenida de las Universidades 24 48007 Bilbao

Data has been shown to be an extremely useful resource in many fields including communications, information technology, weather forecasting or economics. Data processing techniques are enabling many applications which can reduce the uncertainty on the consequences of posible actions and, hence, improve decision making. Rational decision making requires a probabilistic processing of data, which encounters several technical difficulties such as modelling complex data. In this talk, I will provide an overview of this probabilistic framework and describe effective data processing techniques in the important case study of network localization.

Speaker:

  • Santiago Mazuelas: PhD in Mathematics and PhD in Telecommunicactions Engineering. Ramon y Cajal Researcher at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics. Prior to joining BCAM, he was a Staff Engineer at Qualcomm Corporate Research and Development from 2014 to 2017. He previously worked from 2009 to 2014 as Postdoctoral Fellow and Associate in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
