1st World Tourism Day Meeting

On Tuesday, 27 September, the 1st World Tourism Day Meeting entitled: International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, will be held at the San Sebastian campus of the University of Deusto, organised by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences and Gipuzkoa Regional Council through the tourism brand “Explore San Sebastian Region”.

This event, which will be attended by Maite Cruzado (Director for Tourism of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Gipuzkoa Regional Council), will include a talk entitled: “Del turismo sostenible al turismo responsable. Apuntes para una ética del turismo en el siglo XXI”, by Cristian Palazzi (Project management of HTSI Responsible Tourism Observatory in Barcelona).

Then, a roundtable will be held that will include several sustainable tourism initiatives in Gipuzkoa and will be chaired by Denis Itxaso (Regional councillor for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports). Participants will include: Jon Oliden (Founder of Azaldu Marketing), Oihana San Sebastián (BiziBiziki), Inaxio Muguruza (owner of Atalaia Hotel Restaurant in Irun) and Laura Larrión (Hagoos). Finally, the prizes of the photography contest will be awarded: Tourism for all!
