EU peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Faculty of Law at the University of Deusto and the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies will be holding a conference on “Las operaciones de mantenimiento de la paz de la Unión Europea en Bosnia-Herzegovina” next 11 and 12 November, in the Ellacuria Room, CRAI Library, Bilbao campus.

On Wednesday 11, Marta Enciso Santocildes, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and International Relations at the Faculty of Law, University of Deusto, will give the opening address at 15:30.

This will be followed by several talks, “Análisis geopolítico en torno al conflicto vivido en Bosnia y Herzegovina” by Colonel Ignacio Fuente Cobo, and “Aspectos prácticos en torno a las operaciones de paz en Bosnia y Herzegovina. El rol de las Fuerzas Armadas de España” by General Juan Cifuentes Álvarez. A roundtable discussion on the issues raised will be held at the end.

Then, on Thursday 12, a series of lectures will be held at 15:30: “Marco jurídico de las operaciones militares de la ONU y de la OTAN en Bosnia y Herzegovina” by Ignacio de las Rivas Aramburu, and “Bosnia y Herzegovina en el escenario internacional actual” by Darko Zelenika, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Spain. The latter will be delivered in English.
