Tamborrada, University of Deusto
On 20 January, Saint Sebastian’s Day, the University of Deusto will once again participate, as it has since 2016, in San Sebastian (Donostia)’s traditional Tamborrada with a company of cooks and water carriers made up of students, alumni, faculty and university staff, alongside other friends of the institution.
The parade will begin at the University. The flag-raising will take place at 8:30 am, led by Rector Juan José Etxeberria SJ and the Vice-Rector of the San Sebastian campus, María José Aranguren. The company will set off from the campus at 8:45 am, and from that point will perform on the way to Plaza Bilbao, where they will join the ONCE Tamborrada. After a short stop, the company will continue to the Jesuit church on Calle Andía, where the Marcha de San Sebastián and the Hymn of Saint Ignatius will be performed inside the church. A longer stop will be made in front of the church before proceeding to Buen Pastor, where they will play alongside the Tamborrada of Kutxa Employees. The University of Deusto company will be welcomed by the Sociedad Gizartea, led by its Drum Major Esteban Schnell and its president, Francisco Oquiñena. The route will conclude with the Marcha de San Sebastián performed in front of the Vallés.
