15th Saint Francis Xavier Conference: “Leadership with Purpose”

Deusto Tourism will hold the 15th Saint Francis Xavier Conference on 3 December, an annual event focused on reflection and training around leadership with purpose. The session will take place in the Atrium of the CRAI Library on the Bilbao campus, starting at 9:30, and will be presented by Joseba Doistua Nebreda.

The official opening will include interventions from Asun Fernández-Villarán Ara, head of the Tourism degree; Marina Abad Galzacorta, vice-secretary of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences; and Clara Navas Romano, Director of Tourism and Hospitality for the Basque Government.

This will be followed by the presentation of awards for the best practices of the 2024–25 academic year—Naia Moreno Martínez (Eventokia) and Olatz Ruiz Ansótegui (Hotel Meliá Bilbao)—and for the best Final Degree Projects, presented by their authors:

• Aitor Martínez Nieves, “Bilbao Airport within a transport system serving a sustainable tourist destination”.
• Paula Hernández Barba, “The influence of TikTok on the travel lifecycle for Generation Z and Millennials”.

The morning will continue with the leadership workshop “The secret of your success” (10:30–12:00), led by Jorge Álvarez (Spirit H&A) and Sergio de Miguel (Inspire People. Transform Organisations), focusing on leadership skills and teamwork.

After a brief Q&A session, the conference will close at 12:15, concluding with a farewell coffee until 12:45.
