The Dark side of the Social Networks. An interdisciplinary approach by Estibaliz Linares, José Gaviria & Borja Sanz

During the last years, the raise of social networks has shown the power of the information and communication technologies and had created another life, a virtual one. But this new life has also a dark side. Cyber-bulling or the use of the social networks for terrorism activities are a couple of examples of this dark side.

In this seminar we will focus this problem from an interdisciplinary point of view. We will see what tools can be developed from the ICT technologies to fight against these problems, and why it is necessary the point of view of social science experts to make these tools effective. A researcher from social science will some real cases where this dark side of technologies arises. We will see the problem from a practical point of view, with different research projects that has been developed in the last years.
