2nd Inter-Congress Seminar: “International Studies, Area Studies and Globalisation”
The Executive Board of Research Committee 32 “International Studies, Area Studies and Globalisation” invites contributions to the second edition of the Committee’s Inter-Congress Seminar. The new executive team was established last February for a four-year term, and the seminar will serve as the first step in implementing the planned work programme for this period, which will conclude with the publication of a collective volume by Committee members and external contributors. The seminar will be held virtually on 11–12 December 2025.
The seminar will bring together contributions that, across a wide diversity of topics, approaches, and disciplines, address inter- or transnational subjects of study, including:
- Transnational socio-political processes and regional studies
- Global capitalism, extractivism, and the environment
International migration, labour, and inequality
Coloniality and power
The new right and political representation
Abstracts should be submitted to jcastillo@comillas.edu. Submissions will be organised into panels of 3–5 presentations according to thematic affinity. It is also possible to propose pre-formed panels; in such cases, a joint proposal must be sent to the same email address, including: a panel description; name(s) and contact information of the coordinator(s); and a list of included presentations (at minimum, authors and titles). Each individual presentation must also submit its abstract separately following the general submission procedure.
The deadline for submissions is 3 October 2025. Both individual presentations and, where applicable, panel coordinators will receive a certificate from the FES upon completion of the event. For any questions, please contact the same email address used for abstract submissions.
