The Mediterranean has been a key area in the development of our European essence. Being a border and point of convergence between increasingly unrelated realities, its shores make up a complex political geography due to the great social, political, religious and economic asymmetries.

This is where the battered Middle East, the unstable Maghreb and the troubled Sahel meet Europe. The north/south shore divide is such a fragmented terrain that gives rise to an upheaval of emigration, insecurity and conflict situations: terrorism, migration crises, religious conflict, etc. Europe feels increasingly vulnerable and needs to reflect, take sides and act with determination to safeguard its values.

Ignacio Fuente Cobo, DEM artillery Colonel and principal analyst of the Institute for Strategic Studies, will take a close look at this topic on 26 September at DeustoForum. He is one of the most knowledgeable of the ins and outs of security in Southern Europe and will help us to know the reality of the situation, the causes, and actions underway. We await you!
