Online Masterclass: Business and governments in the new diplomacy.
( as part of the 2nd Master’s degree in International Relations and Business Diplomacy)
The acceleration of traditional tensions in international affairs triggered by COVID risks driving a wave of disaffection towards international institutions and foreign policy. However, in this pandemic context, the opportunity must be seized to redefine and enhance the value of public diplomacy traditionally dominated by nation-states. The crisis of globalisation and concepts such as minilateralism and polylateralism often underestimate the public diplomacy exercised by sub-state and non-state actors such as business and civil society.
In a world that requires to be redefined based on inclusive sustainable development, the Basque Country is one of the best examples to analyse and demonstrate the potential of a new sub-state public-private diplomacy, which, by adopting the A2030 Decade for Action as its cross-cutting roadmap, will guide the future of inclusive sustainable development in the territory.
