Bilbao Ekintza, GMF (German Marshall Fund) and the University of Deusto will be presenting the book ” Remaking Post Industrial Cities: Lessons from North America and Europe (2016)” on 26 September. During this event, which will be held at 18:30, at the Library’s Ellacuría Room, Don Carter, Director of the Carnegie Mellon University’s Remaking Cities Institute and publisher of the book, will speak about the lessons learnt from the North-American and European cities that have known how to channel their industrial pasts in innovative and successful ways.

In the past three years, the city of Bilbao and GMF have collaborated in a number of international projects that have helped both to promote the transformation of the city and to encourage contact between the counterpart actors involved in these activities, both in USA and in Europe. One of these initiatives was the participation in 2013 in Remaking Cities Congress in Pittsburgh, PA, and his collaboration in making the book.

Following its presentation, the local authors of the chapter corresponding to Bilbao: Juan Alayo, Consultant in Strategic City Planning & Research, Garbiñe Henry, Director of Social Innovation at the University of Deusto, and Beatriz Plaza, Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of the Basque Country, and Xabier Ochandiano, City Councillor for Economic Promotion, Commerce and Employment, will take part in a roundtable discussion that will be chaired by Garbiñe Henry, from Garbiñe Henry.
