Tierra de nadie, the film
"Tierra de nadie” -whose theatrical release will be on March 28th- follows three friends trapped in a context of violence, social discontent and institutional abandonment: Mateo el Gallego, a civil guard who has become a hero in spite of himself; Juan el Antxale, a fisherman who, after becoming unemployed, enters the world of drug trafficking; and Benito el Yeye, a resigned and intelligent bailiff, who moves between the law and crime. Through their experiences, the story shows how the lack of opportunities and social pressure can lead to opposite paths within the same environment.
Drug trafficking is a reality with multiple faces: from big organized crime to the subsistence economy of neighborhoods and communities where the sale of drugs is one of the few options for income. This problem affects not only those who will participate directly in it, but also those who, out of necessity or lack of alternatives, are trapped in a system that perpetuates inequality and precariousness.
This colloquium will address the causes, consequences and prevention strategies from a holistic perspective, analyzing the social, economic and personal factors that lead some people to become involved in this world.
With the collaboration of Bowfinger International Pictures S.L., the production company Esto También Pasará and Sony, the dialogue seeks to raise awareness of the reality of drug trafficking based on the issues addressed in the film. Through a pedagogical and professional approach, the structural causes, community dynamics and prevention strategies that can make a difference in vulnerable contexts will be analyzed.
