Free workshop on Therapeutic Applications of Bowen's Theory
18/2015/02
16:00 – 20:00
Auditorium. Avenida de las Universidades 24 48007 Bilbao

The Master’s in General Health Psychology will be holding a free workshop on the therapeutic applications of Bowen’s theory. The systemic family theory developed by Dr. Murray Bowen offers a framework to understand family behaviour. This theory explains the emergence of problems and symptoms affecting individuals and families that go to psychotherapy. This theoretical framework leads to a number of principles for clinical interventions and provides guidance to therapists in their professional practice.

This workshop will be delivered by Mariana Martínez Berlanga, PhD in Family Psychology, California School of Professional Psychology. Since 2008 she has been linked to the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, a center created by Murray Bowen as a lecturer at Georgetown University in 1975. He is currently a faculty member at this institution, which has offered a Postgraduate course on Bowen’s Theory since 1980, and has over fifteen years of clinical experience both in USA and in Mexico.

Dr. Martínez Berlanga is also a member of the Psychology Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore Country (UMBC).
