“¿Vas hablando (así) por la calle?” a discussion with María del Carmen Méndez Santos
The socio-linguistic researcher and professor at the University of Vigo María del Carmen Méndez Santos will offer the talk “¿Vas hablando (así) por la calle?” at the Auditorium of the Campus of Bilbao on October 30 at 11:00.
Méndez, who has just published the book I don’t like how you speak (or rather I don’t like you): a criticism of linguistic discrimination will talk about the discrimination that occurs by language and other forms of discrimination that hide criticism of the way you speak.
The director of the Institute of Basque Studies in the FacultySocial and Human Sciences, Elixabete Perez Gaztelu, will be in charge of presenting the event and Jone Goirigolzarri Garaizar, professor at the University of Deusto and member of the Equiling project will be in charge of dynamizing the colloquium.
