New Rector of Deusto to take office

The University of Deusto will be holding the taking of office of Juan José Etxeberria Sagastume SJ as Rector of the University of Deusto on Monday, 22 May. The ceremony, which will take place at 9:30 am in the ceremonial hall at the academic institution, will be presided over by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus and Chancellor of the University of Deusto, Fr Arturo Sosa Abascal SJ.
The new Rector, a tenured professor at Deusto Law School and until now Vice-Rector for the University Community and Agenda 2030, will take over from José María Guibert Ucín, who is completing his third and final term, and will take up the “Gasson Chair” at Boston College during the 2023-24 academic year.
