Bizitza Jokoan: Human and Environmental Rights Advocacy, Climate Crisis and Communication

OBJECTIVE:
Raise awareness of the harassment and vulnerability faced by groups and individuals defending human and environmental rights (or the rights of Nature), taking into account the context of the climate and civilisation crisis.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • Roundtable: Human Rights and Climate Crisis. Participants will include:
    • Iraitz Agirre (Emun). Graduate in social and cultural anthropology. Theme: Causes and consequences of the climate crisis from an ecofeminist perspective.
    • Raquel Celís. Commission for Refugee Aid in the Basque Country. Theme: Migration and refuge due to environmental degradation (Spanish).
    • Gorka Urrutia. Director of the Human Rights Institute, University of Deusto. Theme: Global situation of Human Rights in the face of the climate crisis.
  • Communication in the face of Human and Environmental Rights, which will analyse the role and the coverage given to situations of violations of these rights in the mainstream media and experiences of popular, transformative, critical and feminist communication as alternatives.
