Competitiveness Conference 2025

The Competitiveness Conference is the event where the Basque Country Competitiveness Report, prepared annually by Orkestra with the support of SPRI, is presented. This year, the report focuses on international connectivity as a way to strengthen the Basque industry.

In a context of profound changes in the geopolitical and geoeconomic environment, alongside shifts in industrial strategies in Europe and the Basque Country, the report analyses three key avenues of international connectivity for industrial competitiveness:

• Trade interdependencies

• Investment flows

• Capabilities and knowledge generation

From an applied perspective, the report examines how these connections can foster a stronger, more advanced, and resilient industry. It also provides a comprehensive assessment of the state of competitiveness and well-being in the Basque Country, comparing its evolution with other regions and analysing internationalisation indicators to identify opportunities and vulnerabilities.

The Conference will take place on 24 November at 16:00 in the Atrium of the CRAI Library at the University of Deusto (Bilbao). Following the presentation of the main findings and recommendations of the Report, there will be two panel discussions with local and international experts, focusing on trade relations and investment flows that can strengthen the Basque industry, and the role of industrial policy in the international connectivity of knowledge.
