Lecture by Werner Bijkerk, an IOSCO representative, the leading international securities market regulator.
IOSCO is the organisation that regulates the world’ various committees of securities markets, bringing together more than 95% of these regulators, including Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CMNV), or SEC in USA. The great financial crisis recently experienced highlighted the need for an international regulation in accordance with a number of standards that prevent the systemic risks of financial markets.
IOSCO’s aim is to promote the stability of the international financial market through the implementation of market regulations and their monitoring and application. It also seeks to improve investors’ protection and trust in the integrity of the securities market through exchange of information, cooperation to avoid malpractice and supervision of securities market functioning and the intermediaries operating in them.
Werner Bijkerk’s lecture will be held as part of IOSCO’s strategy to disseminate tools and regulations in the leading business schools worldwide.
Bijkerk will talk about “Global financial markets: Risk outlook”. Some of the issues that will be addressed by this international expert include IOSCO’s plans to achieve greater investor protection, maintain efficient, fair and transparent markets and, above all, the necessary measures to prevent the systemic risks of international financial markets.
