Deusto will be hosting the international event entitled ‘Basque Living’, with conferences, an exhibition and a meeting with Industrial Design students

Basque Living has been jointly organised by the Habic Cluster, the University of Deusto (Faculty of Engineering), the Biscay Designer and Decorator Association and DWeek (Design Week, coordinated by Beaz). A number of events will be held for three days, including an exhibition of Habic’s corporate products in the cloister. It will also be attended by 50 architects from UK.

 

This international event will be opened on Tuesday, 17 November, at 10:00, with a talk entitled “Transformación de Bilbao”, by Asier Abaunza, Bilbao City Councillor. A number of visits and networking activities have also been organised and, on 18 November, a session entitled “Miradas del Hábitat Contemporáneo” will be held in the Garate Room and Cloister of the University of Deusto from 10:00 to 13:30.

 

Marcelo Leslabay, coordinator of the BSc in Industrial Design Engineering, will present this session, which will include a roundtable discussion between designers and manufacturers on ‘¿Qué les une?’. Participants will include Jean Louis Iratzoki (Studio Iratzoki), Gorka Aldabaldetreku (Muebles Treku), Jon Santacoloma (Ideilan) and Agustín Ibarretxe (B.lux). Then, at 11:45, a visit to the exhibition in the cloister will be held.

 

At 11:45, there will be a new session on “Diálogos entre Arquitectura e Interiosismo”. ¿Visión compartida?, which will be attended by Roberto Merino, Architect at Cañada Saiz Merino Estudio Arquitectura, and Iosu Martínez, Interior Designer, dQB. Then, at 12:30, a talk will be held on “Internacionalización de los Arquitectos Vascos y Nuevos Ámbitos de Actuación”, which will be attended by Consuelo González, Director of Habitat Spanish Sales Office in London; Eider Fernández, Architect at Zaha Hadid Studio, London; Nadia Arratibel, Architect and Product Designer; and Xabier Pérez de Arenaza, Architect and Expert in Sustainable Building.

The closing of the event will be attended by Agustín Ibarretxe and Fernando Cortés from 13:15 to 13:30.

In addition, on Thursday 19, a session with Industrial Design students at the University of Deusto will be held.
