Seminar: “Legal protection of trans people”
During the event, the findings of the research conducted by a team of professors from the University of Deusto on the advances and challenges posed by the new regulatory scenario arising from the entry into force of “Law 4/2023, of 28 February, for the real and effective equality of trans people and for the guarantee of the rights of LGTBI people” will be presented.
The following presentations will be delivered:
- Las herramientas jurídicas para la protección de las personas trans ante el proceso de cambio legislativo (Prof. Dr. Aitziber Emaldi Cirión).
- Aspectos psicosociales de la legislación relativa a las personas trans (Prof. Dr. Oscar Martínez Gutiérrez).
- La rectificación registral de la mención relativa al sexo de la persona: evolución y problemática actual (Prof. Dr. Óscar Monje Balmaseda).
- Menores transexuales: previsiones de la Ley 4/2023, de 28 de febrero, para la igualdad real y efectiva de las personas trans y para la garantía de los derechos de las personas (Prof. Dr. Ainhoa Gutiérrez Barrenengoa).
- La igualdad efectiva de las personas transexuales ante la oferta pública de bienes y servicios: pautas para no perderse en un laberinto conceptual y normativo (Prof. Dr. Moderator: Inmaculada Herbosa Martínez
- La discriminación de las personas trans en el ámbito laboral: principales mecanismos para su erradicación (Prof. Dr. Francisco Javier Arrieta Idiakez).
- Padres gestantes y registro civil: la inseguridad jurídica como protagonista de la transexualidad (Prof. Dr. Arantza Vicandi Martínez).
- Transexualidad y deporte: consideraciones para un debate ético y jurídico (Prof. Dr. Elena Atienza Macías).
- Personas trans y violencia de género (Prof. Dr. Emilio José Armaza Armaza
- La ciberdelincuencia (incitación al odio transfóbico y ciber- acoso) como grave amenaza para las personas trans (Prof. Dr. Jon López Gorostidi).
In addition, Prof. Ma. Golda Gigi Godornes Miñoza from the University of the Philippines (Manila, Philippines) will give a lecture entitled “Pride and Prudence: Un análisis comparativo del sexo, el género y la identidad jurídica en España y Filipinas”. The closing speech will be given by Prof. Dr. Gema Tomás Martínez, (Dean of the Law School, University of Deusto).
It should be noted that the Seminar will be held within the framework of the research projects funded by the Basque Government “Legal tools for the protection of trans people in the process of legislative change” (Ref. 163) and “Experiences for the promotion of the human rights of trans women” (Ref. 20), as well as the Research Project funded by MCIN, AEI and FEDER (A way of doing Europe) “Criminal Law in the face of the current challenges of Biomedicine” (Ref. PID2022-136743OB-I00).
